Razi, un agent secret israélien a recruté Sanfur, un jeune palestinien, comme informateur. Sanfur se trouve être le frère de l’une des têtes d’un groupe de combattants palestiniens. Entre loyauté envers cet agent qu’il considère comme un père et fidélité à son frère, Sanfur essaie de naviguer dans ces deux mondes jusqu’au jour où il commet un impair. A son tour, l’agent Razi se trouve face à un profond dilemme, accorder une deuxième chance à son indicateur devenu ami ou obéir aux ordres.
Co-écrit par Ali Waked, Palestinien, et Yuval Adler, Israélien, « Bethlehem » permet à ses créateurs de prendre à bras le corps cette ambivalence assumée et la traiter sous la forme d’une fiction. D’une forte intensité, ce film révèle, après trois ans de recherche, ce que les médias ne parviennent pas à relater.

Razi, an Israeli secret agent recruits Sanfur, a young palestinian, as an informant. Sanfur happens to be the brother of a Palestinian militia leader. Sanfur tries to navigate two worlds, between loyalty to the Israeli agent he considers as a father-figure and loyalty to his brother. The day Sanfur makes a mistake, Razi is faced with a profound dilemma: either give the informant and new-found friend a second chance, or obey orders.
Co-writter Ali Waked, a Palestinian, and Yuval Adler, an Israeli, use fiction to take a stance on this ambivalent relationship. A result of three years of research, the film presents a poignant story that mainstream media has, so far, been unable to capture.
