Bassekou Kouyaté est l’un des grands maîtres du ngoni, le luth traditionnel de l’Afrique de l’Ouest. Ce fabuleux musicien malien a collaboré partout dans le monde avec des artistes comme Damon Albarn, U2, Taj Mahal ou Joachim Kühn, mais aussi avec les plus importants musiciens mandingues comme Ali Farka Touré ou Toumani Diabaté. Avec ses trois joueurs de n’goni de tonalités différentes, ses deux percussionnistes et la puissante chanteuse Amy Sacko. Évoluant avec talent dans le style blues touareg, à l'instar de Tinariwen et Bombino, le groupe de Bassekou Kouyaté fait rimer Afrique et électrique, tradition et innovation d’une efficacité et d’une profondeur redoutable.

Bassekou Kouyaté is one of the great masters of the ngoni, the traditional West African lute. This fabulous Malian musician has collaborated all over the world with artists such as Damon Albarn, U2, Taj Mahal or Joachim Kühn, but also with the most important Mandingo musicians such as Ali Farka Touré or Toumani Diabaté. With its three n'goni players of different tones, its two percussionists and the powerful singer Amy Sacko. Evolving with talent in the Tuareg blues style, like Tinariwen and Bombino, Bassekou Kouyaté's group combines Africa and electricity, tradition and innovation with a formidable efficiency and depth.
