Avec Le Retour d’Ulysse dans sa patrie, qu’il présente à la fin de sa vie, le « divin Claudio » s’inscrit à l’avant-garde de son temps.
Enrichissant l’ancien recitar cantando de nouvelles formes, ses personnages expriment leur sentiments et émotions comme jamais auparavant. Il n'y a qu'à écouter les premières lignes du bouleversant lamento de Pénélope !
Après avoir triomphé en 2019 et 2020 sur les plus grandes scènes françaises avec l’Orfeo, le ténor Emiliano Gonzalez Toro revient dans sa ville natale pour endosser le rôle d’Ulysse et diriger la plus belle troupe monteverdienne du moment.
