Coal Black Horses est un groupe du jura suisse d’americana music. Un projet mené par Romain Gogniat à la voix, guitare acoustique, guitare électrique, guitare résonateur, guitare 12 cordes et percussions.
Influencé par Johnny Cash, Sixteen Horsepower et le Gun Club pour n’en citer que quelques uns, la musique de Coal Black Horses navigue entre country, blues et folk. Un retour aux sources !
En hommage aux chevaux francs-montagnards et à nos ancêtres, les paroles parlent de la terre, celle qu’on cultive, celle qu’on aime. Des ouvriers, aux paysans horlogers, des forgerons aux artisans. Aux amoureux de la nature, aux cueilleurs de champignons dans les sous-bois et aux pêcheurs qui taquinent la truite le long des rives du Doubs.
Derrière les murs en pierres sèches des Franches-Montagnes ou passe le petit train rouge, les pâturages sont la principale source d'inspiration de Coal Black Horses. Ici règne une nature intacte, sauvage et rebelle, comme le caractère des gens qui y vivent.

A tribute to the Free Mountains Horses and our ancestors, the lyrics talk about the ground, the one you grown, the one you love. The old time workers like the peasant watchmakers, the blacksmiths, the craftsmens. To the nature lovers, mushrooms pickers and fishermen who drag the trout along the Deep Black River.
Behind the Free Mountains Bone Dry Wall who run the Little Red Train, the rangelands are the main source of inspiration of Coal Black Horses. Here reign an unspoiled nature, wild and rebel, like the character of the people who live here.
