Pamplemousse (Noise Rock Ile de la Reunion)

Le Poulpe

Pamplemousse is noisy power trio from Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean that has released its critically acclaimed first album on A Tant Rêver du Roi (French Label) in 2017.
No zouk, Sega or Maloya here, Pamplemousse's music is abrasive noise rock with hints of garage rock and dirty blues influenced by the 90s scene (Amprep, Touch'n'go, early Sub Pop). Think The Jesus Lizard, Girls Against Boys or Hot Snakes.

The band has already toured in France and Spain several times (Monkey Week Festival in Sevilla) . They opened for Unsane (NYC) in Paris and shared the bill with 1000Mods (Gr), Make-Overs (SA) and lots of French bands (Liminanas, LANE, Magnetix..). They also play a lot in the Indian Ocean and in the biggest festivals like Sakifo (Reunion Island), Libertalia (Madagascar).

"Pamplemousse dives us into 90s Post Hardcore with a crisp sound that may recall the works of Steve Albini with Shellac or bands like Unsane, RL Burnside or Mission of Burma" Rolling Stone (FR)

"And if the best French band of the 90s rock revival was named Pamplemousse and came from Reunion Island" Le Drone (FR)

"The Music has an '80s college rock feel, with the aesthetic of bands like Mission of Burma or the Feelies. It's top notch musicianship playing catchy, intricate rock tunes" Maximum RocknRoll (US)
