The Flick est une lettre d’amour adressée à la fois au théâtre et au cinéma. Cette comédie douce-amère se déroule entièrement dans un cinéma délabré sur la Côte Est des Etats-Unis. Nos trois protagonistes, Rose, Avery et Sam, vont, au détour de leurs tâches quotidiennes et monotones, se découvrir, révéler une part de leur âme ainsi que partager leur passion pour le cinéma, s’aimer mais aussi se trahir. Mélangeant humour et émotion,The Flick est aussi une réflexion mélancolique sur un monde qui,devenant chaque jour plus numérique, perd de son charme et de sa poésie. The Flick ,oeuvre écrite par Annie Baker,a obtenu le prix Susan Smith Blackburn, un Obie Award, le Prix Pulitzer et le New York drama Critics’circle Award.
The Flick is a love letter to both theater and cinema. This bittersweet comedy takes place in a dilapidated movie theater on the east coast of the United States. Our three protagonists, the underpaid employees of The Flick theater, shuffle through their monotonous daily grind, along the way discovering and revealing parts of their souls. They experience yearning, love and also betrayal. The Flick is a melancholy reflection on a world that, while becoming more digital everyday, is losing its patience, charm and poetry. The play, written by Annie Baker, was awarded the coveted 2013 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, an Obie Award for Play-writing, the New York Critics’ Circle Award and the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
