NEW SWEDISH SHORTS – Offbeat!

Six new Swedish short films that all opened at festivals such as Cannes, Sundance, Tribeca, and Toronto. Among the filmmakers we find the director and actress Bahar Pars (A Man Called Ove), Amanda Kernell (Sami Blood) as well as one of the world’s most successful animator right now, Niki Lindroth von Bahr.

It’s not always easy to go with the flow. In short doc The Traffic Separating Device the car drivers are struggling with the temporary traffic devices set up at Stockholm’s Slussen, in The Turk Kiosk an employee opposes another one and the vibe at the office turns uncomfortable, in Wolf Charlie is struggling with the village’s expectation to look at the wolf as the enemy, in coming-of-age film We Were Three a defiant joke at the wrong place leads to a brutal entrance to adulthood, in the puppet animated festival sensation The Burden the alienated workers sing out their frustration – in classic al Hollywood musical style, finally in I Will Always Love You Kingen Conny has a hard time doing the obvious when his girlfriend is going to give birth – and escapes.

The characters might be a little offbeat, but these films are groovy.
