Tribute Concerts : In memory of Neil Adams
Neil died suddenly on November 17. For the last five years, Neil has been the sound man every Thursday evening at ICV, making sure the performer got the sound balance s/he wanted. You may also have seen him playing drums there in a number of bands. Loudly. For decades before that, Neil has been a familiar figure at festivals and in clubs, sitting behind a mixing desk or a drum-kit, doing a fine job, giving his time and his considerable expertise generously. He was a tender, generous man and a unique, animated presence – always, wholly, honestly himself. Only now that he is suddenly gone do so many of us begin to realise just how much affection he inspired, and how much – how very much – we will miss him.
So this one’s for you Neil. We’ll share some of our favourite Neil Adams memories, we’ll raise a glass in your memory and yes, of course, we’ll make music – that extraordinary and precious thing that gave you so much pleasure all of your life. It’s the least we can do.
