SMOKEY JOE & THE KID (FR - LIVE BAND)
Smokey Joe & The Kid c’est l’association de deux Beatmakers bordelais passionnés autant par le HipHop US et la Bass Music que par le groove des mélodies du début du XXème siècle.Solos de percussions joués au scratch, beats et mélodies interprétés à la MPC: tout est joué en live. Un parti pris résolument Hip Hop sur des samples toujours inspirés du répertoire de la musique traditionnelle américaine. Après un premier album largement plébiscité par le public en 2013, les deux beatmakers bordelais préparent leur retour en grande pompe sur la scène électronique française avec leur deuxième LP, “Running to The Moon”. L’efficacité brute du premier album laisse place à une douce mélancolie aux mélodies entêtantes et à l’atmosphère vaporeuse dans ce nouvel opus. Nous les reçevons sous leur nouvelle formation Live Band.
JAMIE BERRY (UK)
Originally from Lincolnshire, Jamie found a musical home for the past six years in Leeds; with his main focus on honing 20s and 30s swing influences into House and Electro genres.
Jamie Berry is recognized for his musical couplet of shuffling modern beats and vintage swing sounds. His idiosyncratic sound piques your interest while his heavier wobble bass pushes things up a gear or two, continuously drawing people back to his music.
Signed to independent record label Flak Records since 2011, Jamie has since released four EPs, the most recent of which is his ‘Bombinate’ EP, which landed in the Top 5 on Juno Download. Previous releases include the single ‘Delight’, released through Flak Records in November 2011, which, currently records over 1 million Spotify Streams, 12,000 sales and over 100 million com- bined plays on YouTube. Jamie’s impressive success is pushing him to aim higher as he now begins collaboration with a number of interesting musicians and singers. 2016 is surely set to be an amazing year for Jamie Berry.
WOLGANG LOHR (DE)
The Born in Luebeck , but Berliner by choice , Wolfgang Lohr , is a true musician at heart. Wolfgand has produced 13 EPs and numerous remixes for labels such as " Ton liebt Klang ", "Ostfunk", "Acker Records", "Zuckerton" and "Symbiostic" . The man, who is a fan of humorous puns recently celebrated his first chart entry and is currently working on his first own album. He represents a diverse range of music that is arranged rich in detail and feels equally at home in the Tech House, Deep House, House, Minimal and Electro Swing genres. "My music should bring euphoria to the dance floor, pump the club , at home stimulate appetite and above all be fun," said the newcomer. Since 2012 he has been mixing it up in the club scene as a live act. With his sets not being pre-arranged, he directly addresses his audiences wants and needs, so each piece is unique. Long story short : Wolfgang is an experience, a refreshing Hanseatic bringing universal music to the Spree.
DJ ROUNI (CH)
DJ Rouni, c'est du son neuf avec du vieux et vice et versa : un cocktail assurément groovy, riche en basslines et sons vintages. Amoureux de la Bass sous toutes ses formes, il malaxe sans limite les tempos durant ses lives et a conquis son public à travers des mash-up improbables qui allient musiques électroniques, swing, funk et hiphop. Un style d’époque sur des genres musicaux actuels, le tout armé d’un son electro ascensionnel et saupoudré des classics qui nous bercent depuis l'adolescence. « Quel que soit l’âge que l’on a ou le milieu d’où l’on vient, le plus important n’est pas l’époque où l’on vit mais bien le moment où l’on danse ! » DJ Rouni
BONY FLY (CH)
Bony Fly’s productions are made in a combination of vintage gear and modern mixing techniques : they are recorded on a sound card which is plugged into a computer, and mixed on an analog mixing console, embellished with outboard effects. Usually designed to be played on large sound systems, they are characterized by heavy bass lines, kicks, snares, and sometimes subtle piano chords. They draw their inspiration from 80’s digital reggae to bass music, right through jazz, house, early techno and hip hop. However, Bony Fly's main inspirations are Thelonious Monk, A Tribe Called Quest and King Jammy's.
