Entre 2014 et 2016, un groupe d’artistes et de scientifiques ont travaillé ensemble sur le projet « Between Arts and Biological Science: Green Technology and the Concept of Phytomining ». Le but du projet était de créer un système de remédiation autonome qui pourrait fonctionner sans apport externe. Le projet s’est déroulé à travers des conférences, des résidences, une exposition et un texte. Mindaugas discutera d’une série de concepts, de modèles et d’installations autour de l’idée de phytominage, c’est-à-dire la capacité des microorganismes, des champignons, plantes vertes ainsi que leurs enzymes des restaurer la condition initiale d’environnements altérés. En parlant de phytominage, de brevets open source, de systèmes autonomes et d’excréments de nourriture, Juan Pablo Diaz introduira les projets « Nourriture— biopolitique — biocolonialité » et « Postapocalypse Now », qui culminera dans un système de fosses septiques et un réseau de drains dans son voisinage de la banlieue de Berlin.

Between 2014 and 2016, a group of artists and scientists have been working together on a project entitled “Between Arts and Biological Science: Green Technology and the Concept of Phytomining”. The goal of this project was to create an autonomous remediation system that could work without outside input. The project unfolded through conferences, residencies, an exhibition and a text. During the presentation, Mindaugas will discuss a series of concepts, of models and of installations around the idea of phytomining – the ability of microorganisms, mushrooms, green plants and their enzymes to restore the initial condition of altered environments. By talking about phytomining, open source patents, autonomous systems and food excrements, Juan Pablo Diaz will introduce the projects entitled “Food-biopolitics-biocoloniality” and “Postapocalypse Now”, that will culminate in a system of septic tanks and a drainage system in his neighbourhood located in a suburb of Berlin.
