Born and raised in NY, Paul Giallorenzo is a Chicago-based improviser, composer, and sound designer using piano, synthesizer, and electronics in a variety of groups and contexts, ranging from jazz and improvised music to electro-acoustic/noise. Recent projects include ''GitGO'' (free jazz quintet, ''482 Music''); ''Masul'' (electroacoustic duo with Swiss composer/bass saxophonist Thomas Mejer, ''Creative Sources Recordings''); a piano trio with Tim Daisy and Norwegian bassist Ingebrigt Håker Flaten, which has a debut CD coming out on ''Not Two Records'' in 2011; sometimes plays in ''Fred Lonberg-Holm’s Lightbox Orchestra'' and ''Guillermo Gregorio’s Madi Ensemble''. Paul has performed throughout the mid-west, north, and southeastern U.S. as well São Paulo, Brazil, and throughout Switzerland - including a 2008 artist-in-residency organized through the ''Chicago-Lucerne Sister City Committee'' and funded by the ''Swiss Benevolent Society''. Funded several times by the ''Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs'' for new work, and a current faculty member of the ''Old Town School of Folk Music''. Producer, organizer, co-founder, director of the ''Logan Square'' art gallery/experimental music venue ''Elastic'', producing hundreds of creative music concerts in Chicago since 2001.
